If you’ve ever stayed with us at Camp Landa RV Resort, we hope you’ve experienced a welcoming, relaxed feeling from the moment you pulled in. It’s not just the Oasis Pool, the swim-up bar, or any of our other amenities. There’s something deeper here, something rooted in family, tradition, and a legacy that goes back more than half a century.
It all started in the 1960s, when Bob and Billye Henry – grandparents of our co-owner Tasha Blythin – purchased a property along the Comal River called Camp Landa. Back then, it was a quaint collection of riverside cabins. But under their care, it became the launching point for something legendary: the original Schlitterbahn.
The Henrys had a gift for making people feel at home. They believed in creating spaces where families could slow down, laugh together, and make memories. That belief in hospitality didn’t stop with Bob and Billye. It was passed down – first to their children, and now to their granddaughter Tasha and her husband Stuart, who co-own today’s Camp Landa.
When the Blythins built the resort on land still owned by the Henry family, naming it Camp Landa wasn’t just a nod to the past – it was a promise to continue the mission Bob and Billye started so many years ago. To create a place where guests feel taken care of, where every detail reflects warmth and intention.
Even the Yum Yum Café and Camp Store are part of that story. Once the workshop where Schlitterbahn built its earliest waterslides, the space has been transformed into a welcoming hub for guests – serving up a full menu and cold drinks and shelves full of snacks, drinks, souvenirs, and local finds.
But what truly makes Camp Landa special is the family behind it. Stuart and Tasha don’t just run the resort – they live and breathe it, with all four of their kids pitching in along the way. Whether you’re checking in, grabbing a snack, or relaxing poolside, you’re likely to see one of them lending a hand, sharing a laugh, or making a guest feel at home.
We like to think that Camp Landa is more than a resort. It’s a place where past and present meet. A place where hospitality isn’t just a job – it’s a family tradition.
So whether you’re coming for a weekend getaway, a longer stay, or just passing through, we’re glad you’re here. Because at Camp Landa, you’re not just a guest.
You’re part of the story.
